“A change to the speed limiter does not alter the fundamental design of the car or its engine”
The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport has earned back its title for the world’s fastest production car.
About a week ago Guinness World Recordsstripped Bugatti’s record after discovering the Veyron SS had its top speed limiter deactivated. A couple of days ago, Shelby SuperCars announced the Ultimate Aero was once again the quickest production car in the world.
This is an expensive 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429. Still, the $300,000-$350,000 estimate that RM Auctions thinks this car will fetch when the hammer falls on April 27th is cheaper than a time machine, which is the only way you’ll ever find another ’69 Boss like this. You’re looking at the lowest-mile Boss 429 on the face of the earth. How low? 97 miles on the odometer. The equivalent of a one-way trip from Dallas to Waco. The car was originally supposed to be used for racing, but that never happened. Instead of getting all torn up, the car sat in storage, and was then restored, not that a whole lot was needed, given the car is still wearing all its original regalia in the form of factory tags, stamps and markings. Is that worth $100K more than other restored Boss 429s? Someone probably thinks so.

That’s why we’re bringing you news of a new series of “America on the Move” stamps, called “Muscle Cars Forever.”
